Summer Camp
Frequently Asked Questions

In this section we try and answer as many of the common questions asked by parents, guardians and coaches regarding the Yorkshire Basketball Summer Camp. If you need any further information regarding the camp, please don't hesitate to contact us. 

Where is the camp?

The camp is in the city of York, in North Yorkshire. The Camp will be held at the University of York Sport Centre, located on the picturesque green campus of the University in the Heslington area.

When is the camp?

The camp is held between Monday, 19th August and Friday, 23rd August.

Daily registration is from 8AM until 9AM, with pick up being between 17:00 and 17:30.

For what ages is the camp?

The camp caters for young players between the ages of 8 and 16. The focus of the camp is to help young players develop theirs skills.

Is the camp for boys and girls?

The camp is open for both female & male players. The sessions provides will be mixed.

What does a camp day look like?

Is lunch provided?

No lunch is provided and there are no canteen facilities on site. Please ensure that the camper is provided with a pack up lunch. Lunch can be eaten in the break out area, so please ensure it is easy to eat. Please take care not to include any food containing nuts.

Snacks and refreshments can be bought on site.

Are there any additional costs?

There are no additional costs.

It is recommended to bring £5 to £10 in cash, in case the camper wants to buy any snacks or refreshments.

Basketball merchandise will also be available, but this can be purchased at drop off or at pick up.

Who are the coaches?

The three main coaches are coaches from York and surrounding area. They are all Basketball England Level 2 qualified coaches and are DBS checked. 7 young coaches will provide additional support, as part of their development.

Is there medical supervision?

On site there is a strong first aid provision by York Sport facility staff and there is adesignated first aider amongst the camp staff.

A trained physio will be present throughout the day.

What should I do about valuables?

We recommend that no valuables are brought by the camper as we cannot take any responsibility for stolen or lost items.

In the facilities there are lockers available, which the participants can use. They will require a £1 coin to be able to use.

Can I visit my son or daughter at the camp?

There is limited space available to visit the campers. However, if you wish do, please contact us and we will see how and if we will be able to accommodate you.

What is the cancellation policy if the camp cannot go ahead?

If a situation arises and the Yorkshire Basketball Camp cannot go ahead as planned, you will receive a full refund.
